The Gender Clinic
The Gender Clinic at The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital is the only of its kind in Northern New England. We specialize in the care of gender non-conforming and transgender youth, adolescents and their families. Our goal is to provide a smooth, healthy and positive transition through the individual process of realizing and expressing one’s true identity. Our collaborative approach offers support for the medical, social and psychological needs of patients and their families with a care team that includes a:
- Pediatric Endocrinologist
- Pediatric Endocrine Nurse Practitioner
- Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
- Clinical Social Worker
Patients will need a referral from their primary care provider to our pediatric endocrinology office. The first visit is with a child and adolescent psychiatrist followed by visits with the pediatric endocrinologist and nurse practitioner to develop a course of action for the patient and their family.
The Gender Clinic also works to educate providers caring for gender non-conforming and transgender individuals.
